Apple Crumble Bars
INGREDIENTS
For the apple filling:
4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced
¼ cup all-purpose flour
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
For the crust & crumble:
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
2 cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup granulated sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
1 egg
¼ cup old-fashioned rolled oats
¼ cup Mariani Sliced Almonds
INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8x8 baking dish and line with parchment paper.
Prepare the crust. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugars, and salt. Add the butter and egg and mix until the ingredients start to come together in a crumbly dough.
Take ⅔ of the dough and press it into the bottom of the pan. Bake for 10 minutes, then allow to cool for 10 minutes.
While the crust is baking, prepare the apple filling. Add all of the filling ingredients to a large bowl and toss until the apples are evenly coated.
Prepare the crumble topping. Add the oats and sliced almonds to the remaining ⅓ of the crust dough and toss until combined.
Once the crust has cooled, add the apple filling to the baking dish, then sprinkle the crumble over the top.
Bake for 45-50 minutes, until the crumble topping turns golden-brown.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
